Programs >> Stay at Home Training

Behavioral problems are a leading reason why pets end up in shelters. The Stay-At-Home program is aimed at preventing pet homelessness by designing a proactive program that helps people solve behavioral problems so pets can stay in their homes.

Dog Training ClassThis program utilizes positive reinforcement trainers who provide one-on-one consultation with people who are seeking help. The trainers assess the situation and then create customized training regimes to solve the problem. In many cases, this service saves the original home and provides people with an enhanced understanding and respect for their pet.

Stay at Home Training Success Story

Stay at Home Training For Dogs

Profile:
Maximus had a common problem-he was a young, strong German Shepherd dog with the capacity to hurt his owner with his exuberance! Additionally, he required obedience training, was hard to handle when people came to the house and was dog-reactive.

Action:
Our Companions set up bi-monthly lessons to work with Maximus at home. These lessons spanned the course of several months in order to help Maximus control his enthusiasm around people and to learn to listen and respect his "mom," Arlene.

Result:
Maximus is easier to manage when people come to the house. The ultimate goal for Maximus is to be able to attend "Doggie School" so he can continue his training around other dogs. At the rate he is improving, it won't be long until he is able to enroll in his first class.
